On the initiative of the district nature conservation officer at the time, Peter Schonert from Luckau, this observation tower was financed with the help of compensation payments. The building cost a total of 10,000 East German marks.
The foundation was made by the PGH from Kasel-Golzig, the steel construction was made by the blacksmith Baumert from Fürstlich Drehna.
The weir systems nearby were renovated in 2013 and partially rebuilt.
