Together with the Egenhoven Forest, they form the largest mixed deciduous forest in Flanders, covering an area of 2050 hectares. In contrast to the otherwise fertile soils of the surrounding lands, this soil is sandy to loamy. Therefore, you will find a wide variety of plants here such as coltsfoot, common sage bush, blackberry, wild strawberry, chickweed, swamp fern and false sage, which are content with nutrient-poor soils.

Be very quiet and you might see deer - in these forests you will find the oldest deer population in Flanders. As a bird lover you will also get your money's worth here and can observe songbirds and birds of prey.

If you suddenly see dwarves, monsters, trolls or goblins, don't be surprised - you haven't run out of oxygen. On the “Path of Ad” you can discover mysterious and fairytale tree sculptures.
