Well-maintained citadel with defensive bastions, access bridges, a monument. Is still used by the Danish army in some areas. Publicly accessible indoors and in front of the ramparts. Beautiful views from the ramparts to the harbor area.

The Kastellet is one of the best-preserved fortifications in the city of Copenhagen. The building is in the shape of a five-pointed star with bastions at its tips. In addition to military facilities, it houses a church and a windmill.
Although the Kastellet is still used by the Danish military, today it serves primarily as a destination and recreational area. It is located in the northeast of the city near the Østerport train station and is served by the 15, 19, 26 and 1A bus lines. Admission is free; The Kastellet is open daily from 6 am until sunset. The area includes a natural park, which is also extensively used by the residents of Copenhagen and hosts numerous animals. There are also two smaller museums inside the complex. Every day at 12 o'clock there is a military ceremony to change the guards. In the summer, concerts with military music are organized at 2 pm, and their visit is also worthwhile. A big concert takes place on the 28th of October every year.

Protected by water system and only by two bridges begebahr. Part of the fort is also a kind of barracks where you often see soldiers.
