Pyramid Peak

Embark on a difficult hike that takes you across Pyramid Peak, Gothics, and Armstrong Mountain via the Weld Trail. This challenging route covers 7.7 miles (12.4 km) with a significant elevation gain of 3498 feet (1066 metres), typically requiring around 5 hours and 10 minutes to complete. You will navigate steep, rocky, and rooted sections, including some tricky rock scrambles and sheer slab climbs, as you ascend through the Lower Great Range. The reward for your effort includes nearly 360-degree panoramic views from Pyramid Peak's summit, showcasing the Upper Great Range and Ausable Lake. Along the initial sections of the Weld Trail, you will also encounter beautiful waterfalls like Wedge Brook Cascades and Beaver Meadow Falls.

Before you even begin the main ascent, be prepared for an additional walk of approximately four miles along Lake Road. This section passes through the private property of the Ausable Club and serves as a warm-up for the strenuous climb ahead. It is crucial to factor this extra distance into your overall hiking time and plan your parking accordingly for the Weld Trail.
