Trail in great condition. Safe to walk with kids. Be prepared for all uphill walking, complete sun, no water on trail, 2000 feet elevation gain to 10500 feet. Dormant/cold volcano crater visible at the top while looking towards Mt Shasta.
Easy going family hike. Trail in great condition. Volcanic mud pots and fumaroles sounding like jet engines in action at the end.
Great hike with great views. Trailhead is busy so pick your time carefully. Saw a black bear in the beginning foraging across the valley. Need to watch your step. You can go a long ways on the trail.

Rain, rain, rain... No pictures This was to check off one of the 46 peaks over 4000 feet.. If skies had been clear would've gone to Panther for the view..
This hike after 3 inches of rain the prior day. Mud and water the entire way.
Cloudy all the way up, clouds lifted on the way down. Not a hike if you have wild kids that like to run around. Several cliff edges down to the lake.
