In addition to harnessing hydropower for milling, hammering, forging, and other applications, the weirs were also used to water the meadows. As part of the Pfinz River correction in the 1960s, the state of Baden-Württemberg built two modern automatic weirs at the Walther weir and the Schneller Mill. They laid the foundation for harnessing hydropower with modern water turbines. The owner of the Schneller Mill subsequently built a new hydroelectric power plant, which generates an average of 254,000 kWh of electricity annually.
