The old crane is a popular meeting place on the Main promenade - especially popular on a mild summer evening. But you can also include a short stop along your hike and let your legs dangle over the sea wall.

The Alte Kranen is a baroque harbor crane with a double jib from 1773 on the Kranenkai named after it in Würzburg on the right bank of the Main west of the Julius promenade.

Prince Bishop Adam Friedrich von Seinsheim ordered the construction of a new Main crane to simplify the handling of goods from the river to the countryside and vice versa. The way the crane worked was original.Inside the building there was a treadmill and pulleys operated by human power. In contrast to the adjoining warehouse, which was destroyed in March 1945, the old crane survived the Second World War without major damage.
