The Palacio de Cristal in Retiro Park in Madrid is an impressive pavilion made of iron and glass, designed by Ricardo Velázquez Bosco in 1887 for an exhibition of Philippine flora. Located directly on an artificial pond with a waterfall, the structure is inspired by the London Crystal Palace and captivates with its light-flooded, delicate architecture. Today, the building serves as a spectacular exhibition space for contemporary artworks from the Museo Reina Sofía and is one of the most popular photo motifs in the Spanish capital.
