"... First mentioned in the 13th century, Westbevern was incorporated into the Telgter district as an independent municipality by order of the royal government in Münster. Westbevern remained an independently administered municipality with the districts Westbevern Dorf, Westbevern Vadrup and Brock.
When the Telgte office was dissolved in the course of the communal territorial reform in 1975, Westbevern with the districts of Dorf and Vadrup was assigned to the newly formed town of Telgte. Westbevern's district of Brock fell to the Ostbevern municipality, which remained independent.
The center of the place is the parish church Ss. Cornelius and Cyprianus with a Romanesque tower from the 13th century and a neo-Gothic nave from 1897/98. The most valuable piece of church furnishings is the Gröninger Altar from 1631.
A popular excursion destination in the vicinity is Haus Langen an der Bever, a former aristocratic residence with a double mill, consisting of two half-timbered buildings connected by a wooden bridge. ... "
