This is a former World War II airbase known as RAF Marston Moor which trained aircrew on the Halifax bomber between 1942 and 1945.

Parts of the Airfield have been turned into a Business Park (Marston Moor Business Park), and there is also a Driving School which uses parts of the runway for training purposes.
