This linden tree, the "70iger Lindl", was planted as a symbol of reconciliation with France after the war in 1870/1871. Nice place for a break with a great view, a seating area and a field cross.

Once you are at the top, you can drive in the direction of St. Helena and hardly lose any meters in altitude. The sparse growth of the linden indicates a later date. 1960s seems realistic....
