Piazza Galimberti is the heart of Cuneo, the hub of events and daily life. It takes its name from Tancredi Duccio Galimberti, who on July 26, 1943 gave a speech to the crowd from the balcony of his house, inciting them to the Resistance. From that moment on, young men and women did not join partisan groups and went to the mountains to fight the Nazi-fascist forces. The statue in the center of the square represents Giuseppe Barbaroux, a lawyer originally from Cuneo who in the nineteenth century held important roles at the House of Savoy.

Road cycling
Named after Tancredi Galimberti, one of the heroes of the Italian Resistance, this square is the main one in Cuneo. The Court of Cuneo and the Casa Galimberti Museum overlook it. In the middle of its 24,000 square meters (all accessible by bike), there is a monument to Giuseppe Barbaroux.

With 24,000 square meters, Piazza Galimberti is one of the largest squares in Piedmont. The fountain in the middle almost seems a bit lost in the sheer size of the square. It is bordered by representative baroque buildings with spacious arcades. On market days, the square is full of stalls where you can buy all sorts of things or fortify yourself with a small regional specialty.
