The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Leubnitz-Neuostra is one of the oldest in Dresden and probably also one of the most beautiful.
The interior has a flat wooden ceiling. The hall is separated from the two-bay choir and the tower by a triumphal arch. The choir has a cross-ribbed vault. The field ceiling and galleries are richly decorated with pictures. "As a so-called picture church, it is almost unique in the country," wrote a newspaper in 1974 in reference to the GDR.
The flat, wooden field ceiling of the church was painted with glue paint by Gottfried Lucas between 1671 and 1673. In the middle there is a larger, quatrefoil-shaped field, to which 8 cut fields and 22 rectangular fields are connected. These are separated from each other by applied strips. They have green leaves, with the intersections of the strips marked by turned, gold-colored roses, reminiscent of "the depiction of a heavenly meadow."
