Beautiful and characteristic Italian fort from the Great War, masterfully restored, very elegant with its white stone and its round arches. The guided tour is highly recommended. On the roof a remarkable 360° panorama.

Built in the years immediately before the war, it was the most modern of the fortresses built on the Plateau: a small self-sufficient town. With its dominant position at the extreme east of the Asiago Plateau, it had the main task of controlling the Valsugana, the feared access to the Po Valley; it could also intervene against attacks from Melette and the Piana di Marcesina. At the beginning of the conflict, given the distance from the front, he was partly disarmed; during the Strafexpedition of 1916, he fired on the Austro-Hungarians who were attacking the Melette, but the short shots fell on the Italians (!); it was conquered by the imperials until the end of the war.

Although it was involved marginally and for a short time in military actions, the greatest damage came after the war: with the salvage, with its use as a livestock stable, with the destruction of the ski resort built on its roof in the 1960s and 1970s. !

Do not let the barrier influence you further. You open it yourself and you can then park directly at the fort

Renamed by the war correspondents the 'Lion of the Plateau', it was built between 1911 and 1914 and consists of a large building (63 m long by 15.5 m wide, almost 10 m high, although most underground) with two floors, with a battery of 4 149 mm guns. It was part of the Brenta – Cismon Fortresses, with Forte Cima Lan and Forte Cima Campo, with the aim of controlling the Valsugana, however Forte Lisser, given its position, could also intervene on the Melette area and on the Marcesina plain.
Fort Lisser can be visited with a guide or freely. The time required is approximately one hour.
