The village was first mentioned as a church village in 1283; a church first built in 1342. In a severe storm in 1648, the church tower collapsed; In 1741 a new tower was built. In 1763 the church had to be rebuilt because it was dilapidated; only the tower continued to exist as a free-standing tower. In 1963 the wooden shingles of the tower were replaced by copper plates as part of a renovation and in 1998 the church was finally renovated.
