The Capanna San Lucio is located in the upper Val Colla, at 1541 m above sea level, on the slopes of Monte Gazzirola (2116 m). It offers a wonderful view of the beautiful mountains of the Alpine chain, such as Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn etc. It can be reached from Bogno Certara in around an hour and a half, making it the ideal starting point for hikes and mountain tours, both in summer and in winter.

San Lucio is a pass that joins Val Colla (CH) with Val Cavargna (IT), on Italian side the road is accessible by vehicles. On top there is a 14th century church dedicated to San Lucio and two shelters, one in Italian territory and one in Switzerland which also serves as a restaurant.
An easy track starts from Certara (CH), the first hike part has a medium slope and proceed through the forest, than follow with a mild slope. The last km, approaching the top, the slope increase a little bit, but don't worry the target is there in front of you. :-)
A little bit of history: Here since 1943 until 1970 smuggle took place in both directions, rice was brought to Switzerland, while coffee, salt and cigarettes were brought to Italy.
