In the small Vogtland village of Hammerbrücke not far from Klingenthal, the Thierbergschanze was built in 1965 as a 30 m hill with a wooden inrun on a voluntary basis.
Since the interest of the young jumpers attracted in the 1970s, it was decided to reconstruct the ski jump and to give it a new profile for the young jumpers. In 1979 a smaller K22 ski jumping hill with a steel inrun tower was built. Sports instructor Siegfried Gläß played a decisive role in the construction of both ski jumps. He was also the club's coach until 1985 and developed successful athletes.
The most famous athlete who grew up in the club was Ralph Leonhardt, who later won the bronze medal at the 1989 World Cup in Lahti, starting for SC Dynamo Klingenthal as a Nordic combined.
The successful work of the ski section came to a standstill in 1984 with the new BSG management.
In the meantime the hill has been growing over since 1993, but the ravages of time will probably gnaw at the inrun construction for many years to come, because it consists of corrosion-resistant steel girders and coated trapezoidal sheet metal.
