De Brink is located between the oldest part of Deventer and the later developed Bergkwartier.

The history of Deventer is clearly visible in the square walls, because there are buildings from almost all centuries of its history. The late Gothic Waag from 1528 is located prominently on the south side of the square. The late Gothic buildings with buttresses in the Boterstraat, De Olde Munte/Vogelsang (1495) and Kronenburg (ca. 1500), house the Toy Museum, founded in 1932. a newer facade on the Brink. Just like De Drie Haringen (1575), this is located in the building block behind the weighing building. The former home of Rutger Jan Schimmelpenninck is located on the eastern wall of the square. North of this is the former Luxor cinema (1918), built in the Amsterdam School. Even further north, in the central area, in one corner is the former Cantonal Court of Deventer (17th-19th century).
