Cheapest way to cross the Main between Steinheim and Fechenheim.
Also interesting for adults to see how exactly the big mainships maneuver to nirgens.

Especially if you are here with kids, you should take the time to watch a complete lock process.

Currently (2019) only way to cross between Offenbach-Rumpenheim and Hanau the Main (on foot / bike)
On a clear day, wonderful view over the Frankfurt skyline to Feldberg im Taunus.

Barrage and boat lock - exciting for the whole family! Especially when the big ships come in.

Apart from the practical value, there is also a great background noise from the rushing water, plus the colors of the Main, which change depending on the weather and time of day: an experience for the senses. I particularly like the mood very early in the morning. If it's not quite light yet, the lights on the surface of the water. Plus the slight swaying of the footbridge when you walk adventurously across it. Later in the day, after a long hike, perhaps, swinging is a kind of relaxation for the running machine. ;-)
