The first written record of the village fountain can be found in the parish register for Schoßaritz and Almos from 1820. In August 1876 the fountain was deepened. When Schoßaritz received a new, wider street in 1964, the well opening was closed with a concrete slab. As part of the village renewal, the fountain was reopened and rebuilt in 1987. When selecting the building materials, care was taken to allow the fountain to be built again in the Franconian style.
