Khan Shatyr (literally - "Khan's tent") - a transparent tent in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan, the largest entertainment and shopping center in Central Asia. It is described as "the largest tent in the world". The architectural design was revealed by the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev on December 9, 2006.

The 150-meter-high tent with an elliptical base with an axis of 200 m long covers 23,000 m2 square meters of space [3]. Beneath a tent with an area of more than 10 football stadiums is the city's entertainment and shopping center with squares and cobbled streets, shops, a mini golf course, a flowing river and a beach. The roof is made of transparent ETFE plastic; plastic elements are suspended on a network of ropes stretched from the central tower. The transparent material provides access to sunlight, which, in combination with an air heating system and air conditioning, allows you to maintain the internal temperature between 15-30 ° C in the main space and 19-24 ° C in a shopping mall, while outside the temperature varies throughout the year. from -35 to +35 ° C.

After the construction of the Pyramid of Peace and Reconciliation (opened in 2006), Khan Shatyr was the second project in Astana designed by British architect Norman Foster.
