"The Taubenvatta memorial is a multi-part bronze monument in the town of Castrop-Rauxel. It shows a pigeon father taking care of his carrier pigeon. It was set in 1986 on a newly created square on Obere Münsterstrasse, the Kuopio-Platz. The sculpture is designed in two parts connects to the gable of the adjoining corner house. There you can see another pigeon in a dovecote. Immediately next to the memorial, a historic fountain was rediscovered during the redesign of the upper Münsterstrasse. A fountain with approximately the same diameter has been created there. whose water flows through a cascade-like watercourse. The breeding of pigeons, especially the carrier pigeon sport, was a popular pastime among the miners of the Ruhr area - a monument was erected here for them. "
