The exhausting climb to the Little Pulpit is rewarded with a great view. Even the way down the jungle path is beautiful.

A very impressive structure and absolutely recommendable highlight.
The 400 m long and 47 m high Edertalsperre was built between 1908 and 1914. It serves to secure the Weser navigation in summer as well as to generate electricity and as flood protection. With its capacity of up to 200 million cubic meters, the Edersee is after all the third largest reservoir in Germany and a popular holiday region with over 400,000 overnight stays. Guided tours from June to August on Wednesday at 4 pm, duration approx. 45 minutes.
Edersee-Atlantis: Due to the flooding of the Edertal, the villages of Asel, Berich and Bringhausen are submerged, only at very low water levels can you still see their foundations. So you can still see the Aseler Bridge and recognize parts of the old cemeteries. An old church bell was placed a little higher on the shore and is still there today.
On May 17, 1943, a British Army bomb ripped a huge hole in the barrier wall. The tsunami killed 68 people, 213 buildings and numerous bridges were destroyed. The crops were destroyed as well. The reconstruction of the barrier wall began in the same year.

Imposing structure. Dam the Edersee and can be crossed on foot or by bike. In the vicinity there are various restaurants and the possibility to rent boats.

Around the dam leads a varied trail, from which one can enjoy very different views of the dam. Even in winter it is very nice. When the dam is frozen, it is especially nice!

It is also impressive when the water is drained off the barrier wall.

The Edersee is quite crowded. Eventually the water will be drained soon.

A very impressive building with a long history ... both the construction and the attempts at destruction in WWII can best be explained on a guided tour of the Wall ...

Highly recommended is also the cellar forest, beautiful hiking trails well excellent easily accessible. Also, the game reserve overlooking the Edersee is worthwhile. The Waldeck Castle is to be recommended with the rustic cable car, only downside is overrun by tourism.
