From 2020m, it was impossible to go any further due to the snow! We had to turn around, hike back to Quarrazza, and take a rather inconvenient public transport route via Domodossola and Novara to roughly where we wanted to go (instead of 25km over the mountain, it was about 125km by car or about 6 hours by public transport).
