In 1782, the Compagnie des Mines d'Anzin had an imposing building built on the edge of the Bon-Secours forest to house a Newcomen machine. The aim is to combat the flow of groundwater, the main obstacle to coal mining.
In a state of ruin until recently, the building is now experiencing a new life. The exterior envelope was renovated and a fire pump was reinstalled.
Come discover the secrets of an ingenious system that paved the way for the Industrial Revolution.
