The sign explains why (tip: the signs look alike in this area, but the text often differs). On the Dutch side (not where we were but nearby) is also a piece of heathland.

The Teuverberg is a beautiful nature reserve with narrow hiking trails along steep slopes. In wet weather, the hiking trails on and around the Teuverberg are very swampy. Good footwear required!
