Niederrodenbach has had a fortification since the 13th century, including several defense towers, one of which has been preserved to this day. From the old cemetery, some cultural-historical tombs / epitaphs have been set up here and provided with informative explanations.

Before the Thirty Years' War and the plague, there was no cemetery along the Rodenbach fortifications. This extended around the church in the center of the village. At the time of the plague, people wanted to "get rid of" the corpses as quickly as possible and threw them over the ring wall of the town fortifications. Out of necessity, a small "plague cemetery" was created at this point, which has been lovingly prepared by the Rodenbach History Association and equipped with information boards.
