When a major fire raged in the city in 1730, the town hall at the time also fell victim to it. In 1731 the roof structure was lifted and the town hall was used again. In 1744 and 1745 the building was given a small tower (roof turret) and finally received a clock with a justice and market bell. After the town hall clock was replaced with another one in 1758, the town hall received its final form as the forerunner of today's house.

The town hall was built in 1912 in the style of the early days. The seat niche portal of the old town hall from 1571 was preserved. The town hall tower is the landmark of the city.
