Information about the airfield:From 1910, the Wiesbaden horse racecourse was initially located on the site. The Erbenheim racetrack was converted into an airfield in 1928/1929. Airplanes took off and landed here even before the First World War.In 1936 the German Air Force took possession of the airfield. During the Second World War, bombing raids on London were carried out from here.The headquarters of the US Army Europe and the US Army Garrison Wiesbaden as well as the transmitter AFN Wiesbaden are located at the Wiesbaden-Erbenheim airfield. The base is named after the US General Lucius D. Clay.
