Friborg is the capital of the canton of the same name in western Switzerland. In the medieval old town over the Saane is the Gothic cathedral St. Nicholas with stained glass windows in Art Nouveau style and a bell tower with a panoramic view. The nearby museum Espace Jean-Tinguely-Niki-de-Saint-Phalle shows the works of the artist couple Jean Tinguely and Niki de Saint Phalle from the 20th century.
