The monument was unveiled on September 25, 2014 at the intersection of the Arnhemseweg and the Engelanderweg in Beekbergen by Drs. C.J.G.M. Berends, mayor of Apeldoorn and Mr. F. Reinders, chairman of the Foundation evacuation 1944 -1945. It is located opposite Hotel Restaurant 'De Smittenberg' and was designed by Ingrid Hamster Harris.

The Exodus Monument in Beekbergen commemorates the evacuees, but also those who received and sheltered the refugees during a very difficult period of
the war. The monument 'The Tree' refers to the tens of thousands of people who were completely ignorant of where they would be led. The steel tree refers to the harshness of the war, the branches symbolize the various evacuation locations in the municipality of Apeldoorn.
