Here in the Hanenkenfuhr area, the Ems and the parallel Dortmund-Ems canal offer a beautiful piece of nature. Beautiful cycle paths, flat, easy to drive on and away from traffic.

Again and again the passing cargo ships can be observed, which are on their way towards Berlin (Mittelland Canal) or towards the Rhine.

The cozy city center of Lingen invites you to stay for a short or long time. Here you will find everything that cyclists need. If you have the time and inclination, you can follow the Ems to where it flows into the Dollart and visit the cities of Haren, Papenburg, Leer and Emden. All of them are recommended and have a lot to offer their guests. Have lots of fun with it!

On its 340 kilometers through North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony, the long-distance cycle path connects the impressive industrial heritage of the Ruhr area with the North Sea coast between Emden and Norden-Norddeich. These exciting contrasts between nature experiences and the hustle and bustle along the important waterway, between the enjoyment of landscape and culture, make the Münsterland and Emsland particularly attractive.

The bike route along the Dortmund-Ems-Canal is suitable for amateur and recreational cyclists, as well as athletic cyclists. The bike path is well signposted. Fascinating landscapes, wonderful cities with their sights, many accommodations and gastronomic establishments make the bike route the perfect holiday and destination.
