The Protestant church stands on the high bank of the Elbe. It was built in 1250 by Magdeburg Premonstratensian monks from quarry stone in the late Romanesque style. It consists of a rectangular nave, a slightly recessed chancel and a semicircular apse. The Romanesque north portal is walled up today. The windows were given baroque shapes during renovations in 1658. The nave was closed with a flat ceiling with decorative stencil painting. Galleries and most of the furniture were made for the church in the baroque style around 1700. The wooden octagonal baptism dates from 1696, as did the wooden pulpit, the offering box and the stalls. The west gable received a striking redesign around 1880 with an open bell arcade, which is crowned with an octagonal brick tower with blind niches and a pointed helmet. The altar plate dates from the Romanesque period, while the elaborately carved altarpiece dates from the late Gothic period.

The small Romanesque church was built around 1250 by Premonstratensian monks from Magdeburg. It was built from rubble stones and consists of a main nave with a small apse. The location of the church with the bell tower, directly on the high bank of the Elbe, characterizes the view of the community when coming from the west.

      Inside the church are remarkable

a three-part winged altar from the 15th century
Remains of oak chairs with carved names and the number 1594
Pulpit with a dedication to a family (indistinct) 1691
oak baptismal table with dedication of two families 1696
Gallery with the donor's name 1702
      To the earlier story
From 1989 the parish is assigned to the Schartau parish. Pastor Schultze is responsible for the care. From then on, extensive renovation and repair work began. The roof could be completely renewed. The carved altar was professionally restored in an Erfurt workshop. In 1997 the interior was renovated. The tower cross, which was shot down at the end of the Second World War, could be put back on the tower. A bench heater could also be installed. Thus, the renovation of the church is largely complete and its preservation for the next generations is secured.

As a further goal, the church elders of the community have set themselves the expansion of a neighboring barn as a meeting place. This should be completed by the end of 2008.

The parish has been looked after by Pastor Sandra Trottner since 2014.

The Advent music and the summer festivals of the parish in and around the church have become a good tradition in recent years.
