This hut, built in 1910 by the Viennese Alpine Society "Waldfreunde", is run as a self-catering hut. It has 25 beds and 10 emergency beds. The ascent to the hut can be done by Grünbach and Höflein. But you can also reach them via the Hohe-Wand-Mautsraße to the small pulpit. The Hohe Wand offers many opportunities for hiking and climbing of various levels of difficulty. Probably in no other area are as many shelters as on the Hohe Wand. The Viennese Alpine companies "Hochwandler" and "Payerbacher" have their hut dwellings here. Like the alpine society "Waldfreunde", these are members of the Austrian Mountaineering Association and the umbrella association of alpine associations in Austria - VAVÖ - based in Vienna.
