Passignano sul Trasimeno is the main village on the northern shores of Lake Trasimeno. The town developed in modern times, between the 1500s and 1600s, while the charming old town linked to the Rocca is of medieval origin and has its roots in even more ancient times.
Often accumulated in San Feliciano due to the importance of fishing on the local economy, the town looks like a small fishing village stretched towards the shores of the lake and dominated by the fortress above.
Thanks to the lakeside walks and the beaches for bathing, together with Castiglione del Lago it is an ideal place to better enjoy the Trasimeno.
From Passignano ferries also leave for both islands, making it a perfect starting point for exploring the lake and its treasures.
The medieval fortress of Passignano sul Trasimeno dominates the landscape, standing out above the village in an elevated position. The oldest part of Passignano is surrounded by a circle of medieval walls, which testify to the development suffered by the center in the transformation from a small agricultural village during the Roman Empire to a castle and fortress in the medieval period, when it was long disputed between Arezzo, Perugia and Florence.
After a relaxing lakeside walk and a tour inside the village, a visit to the Rocca is a must. You will experience a real journey into the past, also immersing yourself in the local reality thanks to the small Museum of Boats located inside. Also, enjoy the breathtaking view from the top of the Tower's more than 30 meters! You will be able to admire the spectacle of the lake and its islands.
