  • A long green corridor, perfectly recovered, which runs uninterrupted for about 70 km, from the city of Treviso to Montegalda (VI), crossing country villages, naturalistic oases, waterways, cultivated countryside, country churches and Venetian villas. The Treviso-Ostiglia is among the major arteries of Veneto cycle tourism, defined as Itinerary n. 5 in the regional signs (I5). This cycle route allows branching towards other important itineraries, such as the Sile GreenWay (Treviso - Jesolo), the Sentiero degli Ezzelini (Asolo), the Cammino di S. Antonio (Padua), the Brenta Cycle Route (Trento - Bassano del Grappa) , the Bacchiglione cycle route (Padua - Euganean Hills - Vicenza), the Berica Riviera (Vicenza - Padua), the Via del Tergola. It develops in an east-west direction and retraces the route of a former railway built on several occasions between 1921 and 1941. It was a railway line, approximately 116 km long, which connected the city of Ostiglia, in the province of Mantua , in Treviso and therefore ideally two large rivers: the Po and the Piave. The railway, used for both commercial and military reasons, was seriously damaged during the Second World War, so much so that it was made impassable. At the end of the war some sections were permanently closed. Others, in the provinces of Mantua, Verona and Vicenza, continued to operate until the beginning of the 1980s to allow the transport of goods. It has the advantage of being a long, flat wooded line, on its own terrain, mainly asphalted; only the stretch in the province of Treviso (about 15 km) is on a dirt surface with stabilized gravel. Another characteristic of the track is the pleasant succession of railway stations, toll booths and roadman's houses. Most of these structures have been recovered: many are private homes, while others are structures serving and supporting cycle tourists. The recovery work on the site and its transformation into a cycle path began in 2009, while the first inaugurations date back to 2013.ciclabile-treviso-ostiglia.it
