This Canal is part of the route better known under the name of "Canal des deux Mers" which connects Bordeaux to Sète. In its oceanic part, from Bordeaux to the Seuil de Norouze after Toulouse, it takes the track "La Roger Lapébie" then the Canal Lateral à la Garonne. In its southern part, it becomes the "Canal du Midi"
If you travel this route in its entirety, prefer a mountain bike or gravel bike to the road bike whose tires that are too thin will give you too much discomfort and are unsuitable for certain passages.

I hope a bit of advertising is allowed. There is a marvellous B&B / gîte - Haras de la Tour - just 2.5 km off all of these routes at Lamothe-Landerron. Many cyclists have stayed here. Have a look at harastour.comIt is 5 km from the start point at Sainte-Bazeille. If you get lost I can come and cycle back with you.
