The church further in the lake, the holy Metochion of Mount Athos from Agios Nikolaos in Porto Lagos, has its own wife as protector, the icon of Panagia Pantanassa. The word Pantanassa means almighty queen and refers to Mary.
The front church stands on the small island of Agios Nikolaos as a monastery of the same name, which is still inhabited and maintained by a few monks.
