A building with a long history

The town hall of the city of Erding is a historic building with a long and great past. After its construction towards the end of the 16th century, it initially served the Counts of Preysing as a city residence, only to be destroyed by arson in September 1648 a few weeks before the end of the Thirty Years' War and remained a ruin for decades. Its reconstruction only began towards the end of the 17th century. The Counts of Preysing continued to own the newly built house. This is how the Grafenstock got its name: The "Graefliche Hausstock" or "Grafenstock" for short. In 1747 the Erdinger schnapps distiller Georg Faistenhammer bought it before selling it to the municipality in 1825. Since then, the building has been the seat of the city administration.
