Behind St. Stephen's Tower/Štěpánka, granites form a semicircle, but the infamous Stone (Iron) Cross is missing... the base is empty. The model, the "Iron Cross", has been an award for "brave" soldiers since 1813. In 1943, German residents of Bad Wurzelsdorf erected an "Iron Cross" made of granite for their fallen relatives, and a symbolic stone for each community in the neighborhood. The cross was destroyed very quickly after the war.
A plaque next to it explains the contradictory story.
