    Tips

Typically, when the Komoot message appears warning against unsuitable riding surfaces, I dismiss it. On this occasion, that was a huge mistake. It took 45 (FORTY-FIVE!) minutes to traverse barely 2 miles.

For context, I was riding a 531 randonneur with clipless pedals and shoes; I had also set the route planner to 'Bike touring', so some of this riding disaster was my own doing.

That said, however, this segment simply should NOT be appearing on a bicycling route - there is no way on God's green Earth I would recommend 'riding' this on anything other than a full-suspension MTB, if at all. It is barely passable on foot.

This is absolutely, positively, 100%, NOT for tourers or road riders. Frankly, I would argue strongly against gravel bikers attempting it, too. MTB'ers and/or gluttons for punishment: ride at your own risk and be prepared for lots of tech-y riding and a fair few hike-your-bike sections, especially outside summer months.

Trust me, this is not hyperbole - save yourself both time and boiled blood by re-routing. Learn from my mistake. You have been warned!
