Fort Haasdonk was built from 1908 to 1913. It played no major role in the two world wars. After 1918, the fort was mainly used as a warehouse. The building is in a fairly poor condition but has been recognized as a protected natural monument since 2002.

The fort is privately owned and not accessible. The walking path around the fort moat is accessible.

Cyclists can discover the fort together with Fort Steendorp, Fort Zwijndrecht, Fort Kruibeke and Fort 8 Hoboken via the route 'Forts and castles in the Waasland' from the brochure "Retake the Forts". You can also create your own route thanks to the cycling junctions. Fort Haasdonk is located at junction 95.
