The old diabase quarry at Heimberg near Wolfshagen in the Harz Mountains can look back on more than 100 years of operational history (1885 to 1986). An eye-catcher is the so-called breeding rock, which as a quarry residue made of inferior rock as an inselberg towers over the quarry floor by around 50 meters. A nice example of a successful renaturation of a former industrial plant.

Hiking

The path of the stones can be integrated very well into a round trip around Wolfshagen. You can walk on the Steinway Trail, visit the Schäderbaude, the Schlederpavillon (great view of Wolfshagen), the Schäderquelle and as a conclusion the way or use the track of the stones to visit the station 109 of the Harzer hiking nobility.
