On hot summer days very populated, as from Kandersteg a gondola goes up. Starting point for high alpine tours, which are really something for sure-footed and height-anxious hikers something. In contrast, there are easier circular walks, which are just busy. Therefore rather low season - if you do not want to swim.
The Oeschinensee is about 1.6 km long and at the deepest point is 56 meters. It flows underground into the Oeschibach.

One of the most beautiful mountain lakes in the canton of Bern. It has various hiking routes from easy panoramic circular hikes to challenging climbing routes, everything is available. If you move on the wide paths, you are often one of many ... as soon as you go into the somewhat more demanding terrain, the number of tourists also decreases noticeably and you can enjoy the peace and beauty of this place.

It is great to walk on the lake when frozen in winter, and then around the panorama walks above the lake in summer. Take the appropriate equipment if you want to do the klettersteig (VF) on this route and note that the trails on the right of the lake are not always well marked.

Great tour with a fantastic panorama. However, good slip resistance and good footwear recommended. Significantly more demanding and not recommended with walking difficulties. Schwindekfrei should be synonymous. We had the misfortune, that still isolated snowfields were present, which in 2 places something the adrenalin has driven up ;-) In some places you had to cross a small stream or past waterfalls. In some places it also "rained a few stones" that fell from above.
Overall, but fantastic tour with great opportunities to photograph and enjoy.
The lake itself is quite muddy and not so bathing unless you want a mud pack. ;)

Beautiful, but unfortunately completely overcrowded in the summer months. My tip: From the Oeschinensee, hike along the path along the Öschibach back to Kandersteg, a matter of just under 50 minutes. I hardly met any tourists on the way - and that was in June.
