In the heart of the Po Delta Park, in Santa Giustina di Mesola, is Torre Abate, a natural oasis. Immersed in the green countryside a stone's throw from the river Po, a few meters from the seventeenth-century Torre Abate, an ancient drain from the Este era, the Oasis is located in a quiet area and is an excellent starting point for various itineraries.
Torre dell'Abate was built as a hydraulic work during the 16th century at the behest of Alfonso II d'Este as part of his initiatives to reclaim the territory of the Este duchy.
It soon became part of the Mesola estate, then ducal property.
It has five large passages for water covered by vaults on which a building with a tower structure rests.
Its functioning was originally that of a Vincian gate but with the new cut of Porto Viro it soon lost that motivation and became a structure of defense and territorial control.
It appears as an isolated and solitary tower in a part of the environment that recalls how it must have been at the time of its construction, when the valleys were much more extensive and before the Republic of Venice permanently modified the territory for its economic and political purposes .

Torre dell'Abate was built as a hydraulic work during the 16th century at the behest of Alfonso II d'Este as part of his initiatives to reclaim the territory of the Estense duchy. A stone's throw from the sea and the Mesola Forest, it is located in one of the most beautiful stations of the Po Delta Park and houses within it a true architectural and natural/wildlife treasure
