On the "Path of the Generations" of the municipality of Ebermannsdorf one encounters, among other things, the so-called "Köhlerplatz".
Köhler describes a profession that has almost died out in Germany, the task of which is to produce charcoal from wood. The associated craft business is called charcoal burning.
A charcoal pile is a pile of wood covered airtight with earth, grass and moss, which is set on fire by a charcoal burner to produce charcoal. The relic of a coal pile, as it can often be found in forests, is called Meilerplatz (or Köhlerplatz).
