The mills are still in operation for demonstration purposes. The paint mill even produces for sale. In some mills one can look at the production process. There is also the possibility to participate in workshops. In the surrounding village there is the possibility to visit the replica of a small village shop.

The windmills on the Zaan river can be seen from afar. An open-air museum of the 19th century: the industrial revolution in the Zaanstreek (region around the river Zaan) begins.
