Located 689 meters high, this Marian sanctuary of the Bishopric of Terrassa was built very close to where, according to legend, the image of the Virgin had been found. Its construction began in 1701, and 10 years later it was already open for worship. The parishioners of San Pablo de Montmany thus built a house for their image of the Virgin of Puiggraciós, a Gothic carving that had been venerated in their parish church since the 15th century. In the 17th century, the carving of the Virgin was already carried out in procession, each year, to the top of Puiggraciós, where the blessing of the term was made and a popular distribution of bread rolls was made. The temple was adorned with a magnificent Baroque altarpiece, and completed with a dressing room that already existed in 1771.
In 1936, at the beginning of the Civil War, the sanctuary was set on fire and was completely damaged. The baroque altarpiece was lost, but not the image of the Virgin, which was saved by the neighbors. In 1946 the bishopric of Barcelona placed Puiggraciós within the parish of Sant Genís de la Almendra; From this parish the complete restoration of the temple was organized -begun just after the war-, which was solemnly inaugurated on September 8, 1957. He directed the restoration works of the architect Lluís bonete y Garí, who built a cross-plan church Latin -with the orientation inverted with respect to the original-, with a dome in the transept, a dressing room to house the image of the Virgin and a belfry. The building is accompanied by the old hermit's house and a small chapel in the exact place where, according to tradition, the image was found.

The Santuari de Puiggraciós is located at the confluence of the municipal terms of Ametlla del Vallès, Figaró-Montmany, at an altitude of about 700m. It was built in 1701, very close to where, according to legend, the image of the Virgin Mary had been found, a Gothic carving that was venerated from the 15th century and which in the 17th century was already coming out, every year , in procession, El Santuari is on the way to the summit of Puiggraciós, to the south-east of the cliffs of Bertí, in a privileged environment, in the middle of nature, in the heart of Vallès Oriental.
Since 1973 the Benedictine community of St. Pere de les Puel.les took charge of it. Currently, a small community of nuns and lay volunteers lives there, with the desire to respond to the search for different ways to express and share the faith, making available to you a space for meeting, prayer, silence and celebration, as well as accompanying and welcoming at our guesthouse.
From the Sanctuary they offer spaces to celebrate their faith, with different activities such as retreats, walks, universal peace dances, prayer vigils, etc., which you will find announced on their website.
