Our destination, Trøllkonufingur, translated as "Witch's Finger" or "Troll Woman's Finger," is an impressive, 313-meter-high monolith that rises majestically from the sea off the southeast coast of Sandavágur.

The rock formation is shrouded in local legend: It is said that a witch wanted to throw the Faroe Islands to Iceland. When she reached the shores of Vágar, the sun rose and turned her to stone. Because she was so enormous, only the back of her head (now the island of Koltur) and her finger (Trøllkonufingur) protruded above the water.
