The highest mountain of the Faroe Islands. The effort to climb it is definitely worth it, even if in fog to the pole, which marks the summit and a sheltered seating is not much to see. In sunshine, the islands can be completely overlooked - I have to tell me. If you dare to climb, you should be firm, free from giddiness, halfway persevering and flexible in your choice of the optimal route. The path becomes steadily steeper and stony, but about half flattens off again. In dense fog, at higher altitudes, it can quickly become unclear where to go. Towards the end it gets quite steep and depending on the choice of the way you have to climb a bit. It is best to stay on the north side just before the summit to find a good way to the top.
Arrived at the summit there is a large, flat plateau on which to pause well and enjoy the incredible silence.

In good visibility sensational view. But the Slättaratindur is almost constantly in the fog, because the wet air from the sea has to rise far. The air cools down. Rule of thumb is 1 ° C per 100 vertical meters. Therefore the humidity of the air condenses, clouds form.

Great view in good weather, the climb is sometimes slippery (hiking shoes mandatory)
